The Steam Century Mystery

One and all are invited, by a most esteemed crew, aboard Her Majesty's Airship Badger to help solve a mystery most foul!

The Steam Century Mystery LARP is a multifaceted game that combines elements of live action roleplaying and crime dramas. Players follow a trail of clues by investigating rooms, speaking to costumed characters and playing games of skill.

Players sign up at game registration and attend a 30 minute orientation which explains the world of Steam Century and how to interact with props and characters.

Game play takes place over a set period of time, but is designed to be played intermittently. Players are encouraged to take part in other con activities during the game. Characters and clues can be found throughout the con.

Cost of the game includes tea, biscuits and campaign medal.

The Bridge: Clue Room
The Bridge will be the main room of the event. Registration will take place here and players will be marked, sign waivers, and donate to the group if desired. Registration will take place over a relatively short period of time. We will allow late arrivals to register with the bridge officers.

The bridge will be set up as a social area when not in the investigation phase. Light refreshments will be offered and all Con guests will be welcome to come in and speak to the crew. We’ll remain in character as much as possible; although it is very likely we will be explaining Steam Punk to a lot of guests (and hopefully gaining some new converts). We have auxiliary members who will also be attending; they will be in civilian costumes and not helping with the game. Among this group are some master costumers who would love to meet with other costumers.

During set times over the course of the game, the bridge will be set up as the clue room. During those times the room will be cleared of all guests. We’ll then plant the room with a number of clues among all the props in the room. Clues that the players can take will be marked with a distinctive stamp. Players can come into the room in small groups and can search the room for up to 15 minutes. They can work together or alone. Two bridge officers will be present, one to answer questions and the other to make sure no one enters or leaves the room before the time is up. The cycle will repeat again for the next group once the room has been reset. We’ll shift out the crew so that everyone can enjoy the Con (and be floating clues).

The Game Room
There will also be a room set up with appropriate mini-games that will yield clues if the players do well.

Floating Clues
Clues won’t be confined to the Steam Century rooms. There will be clues found throughout the Con, so players will want to keep their eyes open even when they are attending other events. Crew members will also be wandering the Con and players will need to question the crew to learn more clues.

A steampunk adventure in the spirit of How to Host a Mystery and True Dungeon! Come join us for this event, the first of its kind within the steampunk subculture!

Matrix Tag

Do you have what it takes to help Neo win the war for Zion? Or will you support Agent Smith in his quest to subjugate the humans? Would you take the red pill, or the blue pill?

In Matrix Tag, two teams vie for power over the fate of the human race. Zionists gain power by collecting tokens from their leaders (Neo, Morpheus and Trinity). Agent Smith and his Agents seek to weaken the Zionists by confiscating their tokens, turning them into Agents.

In Matrix Tag, players choose the roles of Agent Smith, Neo, Morpheus, Trinity, Agent and Zionist. Any number of people can play, joining in and leaving at any time. All public areas of the convention are ‘game play areas’ for Matrix Tag. Players are free to attend other programming during the Convention, as they seek out Agents and Zionists and gain strength for their team.
